Two years ago, I (Trina) heard about NaNoWriMo. I don't even remember where I first heard about it but I signed up right away. There is actually a month dedicated to creative writing and puts crazy pressure on me to finish a novel? Awesome! Well, I signed up but I did not finish my 50,000 words. No worries because I actually started and that was cool. Well, this time, I am going to do it and I know exactly how. My secret weapon is to take it offline and make myself accountable to real life people that I know. I have not taken advantage of that in the past but this year, it's on! My children, my friends, and friends we don't know yet will actually get together through very informal gatherings (NaNoWriMo calls them write ins) and we will get it done. Even if some people don't win, we are going to celebrate anyway. Wanna try it? Sign up at www.NaNoWriMo.org, start planning your novel now (or not if you're that "let it flow type"), start writing on November 1, and bring your laptop, typewriter, or notebook to one of our informal write ins. Check the calendar for dates. We will also be participating in some events at the Public Library of Cincinnati and Hamilton County. Can't wait to read your novel!
